Campaign Overview

During the summer of 2025, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church launched a 12-week devotional series titled Faith on the Move as part of the church’s weekly newsletter, The Heart of Gloria Dei. This series was designed to keep members spiritually engaged and rooted in Scripture during a season when attendance often declines due to travel and summer activities.

Goals & Objectives

Each August, preschool teachers return to the building to prepare for the upcoming school year. We wanted to create a memorable experience that made them feel genuinely appreciated and energized for the year ahead.

Role:

  • Developing the overall structure and visual branding for the Faith on the Move devotional series.
  • Creating templates and formatting for the 12-week reflections within the newsletter.
  • Integrating Scripture, reflection prompts, and imagery to align with the church’s summer theme.
  • Coordinating weekly publication and ensuring consistency across all issues.
  • Managing distribution through the church’s email platform and website.

Audience:

  • Gloria Dei members and friends receiving the weekly newsletter.
  • Visitors and extended community members who follow the church online.
  • Both in-person attendees and remote readers.

Goals:

  • Provide meaningful, Scripture-based reflections to members throughout the summer months.
  • Maintain consistent engagement with the congregation through digital channels, even when members were away.
  • Create a cohesive and branded devotional series that could be easily read, shared, and archived.
  • Strengthen the church’s identity as a community that journeys together in faith.

Implementation

The series was published weekly as part of The Heart of Gloria Dei. Each devotional featured:

  • A title and Scripture passage,
  • A brief devotional reflection written in a warm, pastoral tone,
  • A “Faith on the Move” branded header and footer for visual cohesion,
  • Clear calls to reflection and prayer.

This approach allowed for easy reading on both desktop and mobile devices while keeping the content the spiritual centerpiece of the newsletter.

Results & Impact

  • High engagement: Consistent open rates were maintained throughout the summer, with strong positive feedback from members who appreciated having spiritual content while traveling (70% weekly newsletter open rate with a 10% click-through rate)

  • Congregational feedback: Readers expressed that the devotionals helped them feel connected to the church community during vacation season.

  • Sustainable format: The series established a successful model for seasonal devotional content that can be adapted for future campaigns.
